On the sixth day of APRIL, 1320...

an extraordinary ceremony took place at Arbroath Abbey.

It's effects were anything but short lived, reverberating with growing intensity down the centuries, echoing not only the original call for Scottish freedom, but underlining that freedom which every common man desires as his own.
The event, now re-enacted on that day every year, was
the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath.
